A.A. Roots Revival

I would like to start a discussion of the early Christian and Biblical roots of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), and hopefully get a small group(s) going, using the Bible, Big Book, Oxford Group Principles, devotionals (My Utmost For His Highest, 24 Hours A Day

I've been reading from "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis, chapter two: "Many words do not satisfy the soul, but a good life eases the mind and a clean conscience inspires great trust in God."

Also read from Our Daily Bread. If you have any favorite devotions you would like to share, please feel free to post. Thanks and God bless.

Read from My Utmost For His Highest, by Oswald Chambers -- about having faith in God. Having faith in God is not the problem for me, but as Oswald Chambers expounded on, exercising our faith in God is the challenge!

By God's grace and strength, I am still clean and sober!! Going on 28 years ... I'm looking forward to receiving my 28-year chip this September!!! Praise God ... Thank you Jesus ....

The Lord is my strength and my refuge ... whom shall I fear? God, grant me the the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, and the courage to change the things I can .... Amen.

PostSubject: Discipline - Physically, Morally, Mentally ...   Wed Dec 10, 2008 8:03 am

Reading from "My Utmost For His Highest," by Oswald Chambers:

We must offer up our spiritual sacrifice to God by presenting our bodies a living sacrifice. Committing ourselves to God means that we must discipline ourselves physically, morally and mentally ....
